Somatic Coaching

Somatic Experiencing® is a body-oriented therapeutic model that supports the renegotiation of life’s stressors and/or traumatic experiences held in the body’s memory. SE works by helping you learn a way of expressing internal states that are often unexpressed. SE supports the body’s inherent capacity for resilience, growth and healing by purposefully focusing on the present moment without judgment. As you learn to trust the body’s innate wisdom you find meaning, purpose, and a sense of safety moving you away from feeling stuck in the fight/flight/freeze response of hypervigilance resulting from past traumas and the overwhelm of modern life.

SE may help you resolve systemic issues impacting and contributing to a variety of physical, mental and relational challenges. Some examples are trauma, chronic illness and pain, stress and anxiety, depression, and helping you build lasting connection with yourself and with those around you.

SE is complementary with ongoing therapy, for those not yet ready for talk therapy, and/or anyone wanting to understand the felt sense of stress and everyday life challenges.

Somatic Coaching is a stand alone service provided by a Somatic Experiencing International trained practitioner.

A trauma-based approach to yoga addressing the unique needs of trauma survivors and those affected by mental and emotional issues.

 

Yoga Therapy combines trauma informed practices with specific yoga tools: asana the physical practice of yoga, pranayama the practice of harnessing and controlling energy through breathwork, dhyana or meditation, and savasana or rest. (Some tools may be limited by the accessibility of virtual meeting spaces.)
